Next I got out my multimeter and checked the stator windings for damage. I firstly checked for any short circuits between the stator body and the phase wires this was done buy touching one probe of the meter to the stator body and then checking each phase wire separately. there should be no continuity. This was fine so I then checked for any open circuits in the phase wires, the three wires are all connected together at one end so there should be continuity between all phase wire
this also was also fine, so no damage to the motor.

With this done I gave the motor components a
good clean and reassembled it putting it aside for installation
when the fuselage has been repaired.

A new speed controller was ordered from Hobby King and I also
added a carbon fiber undercarriage, a little longer in the legs to
give me some added height. While waiting for the new parts to
arrive I got onto repairing the damage to the firewall and undercarriage
mounting plate. I cut the damaged firewall out of the model and
fabricated a new one and epoxied it in place and reattached
the undercarriage mount, next I recovered the repairs with
Monocote. The engine mount and engine were refitted awaiting the
new speed controller and undercarriage.
The parts arrived from Hobby king 4 days after they were ordered
and fitted to the Funtana.
Batteries were charged and fitted in preparation
for a test run.
Nothing! no response from the motor, not knowing if the problem
was with the new speed controller or something I had missed with
the engine I rung Tony for some advice. Tony suggested I tried one
of his spare motors with my new speed controller, this proved
that the speed controller was fine and that there was something
amiss with my motor. Several people have since looked at this
motor and have not been able to find a fault with it.
